I was a little nervous buying this thing online, sight unseen, because my cat is quite large (15 lbs) and I worried it might not be sturdy enough to support her. (There was also the fact that my cat is very picky about toys and there was a chance that I had just purchased a $45 cardboard box for her to sit in.) I set it up for her and she was all over it within minutes. She loves it and I'm thrilled. She jumps all over it and there hasn't been so much as a wobble, it's very sturdy. The only reason I didn't give the thing 5 stars is that the feather toy part of it isn't attached very well...we've had it 9 days and it's already been torn out. It still works as a separate toy, I suppose, but it's a little disappointing.

After having to move my cat into my room because of her anxiety, I decided she needed her own tree. She loves it! She doesn't scratch my furniture anymore and she enjoys watching the traffic down below. I think she would enjoy it a little more without the curved platform though. I have it sticking out so it's more comfortable for her to see out the window.

We used to have about ten different scratchers -- ranging from the flat cardboard ones, to a giant carpeted tree, and everything in between. FINALLY, figured out that this was the one that ALL the cats seemed to use consistently when they really wanted to claw something. I think the combination of the slanted post and the sisal is key. Save your furniture and buy a couple (we keep three).
