The heating element does not really get very warm.
The heating element is 1/4 the size of the bed!
My dog wouldn't go near it:)

I was undecided between this or the individual heat pad to place in their extra large dog bed. Based on reviews, I chose this one. I placed it in their dog bed, and they seemed to like it...but no longer slept on it at the same time. Two weeks later, there was an 'accident' and the urine soaked through everything. When I took it apart to wash it, the heating unit is VERY small! I could have just purchaed that. :(v and save moneh.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Claudettesmom Ordered the XLarge mat last year to put on a screened porch for our outside cats. All three of our cats share the mat with plenty of room to stretch out. They really seem to enjoy it and I'm very satisfied that they have a safe, warm place to bed down in cold weather.
