The aquarium is fantastic. By mistake I ordered the black background, & was worried. Set it up and have but compliments. Put colorful plants in & wow.

This 40 gallon acrylic tank is the best. Will never go back to glass. The openings for the tank are fine, just make sure your new decorations you buy are not to wide. SeaClear should lower the cost of the tank, and not bother to include the light fixture. I bought this tank because its acrylic, not the light fixture. The weight of this tank is unbelievable. I took the tank out of the box with the middle openings with one hand. You would never be able to do that with a glass tank. One of my biggest concerns was I wouldn't see the tank before I buy it, and the condition of the tank once I got it. SeaClear does a great job of packaging, and not a scratch on it. This tank is top notch.

Gregory62 Best tank I've ever had
I received this tank yesterday and set it up right away. This is the first acrylic tank I've ever owned (I spent 5 minutes trying to take the top off, before I realized, it doesn't come off. Lol) and I'll never go back to glass.
The tank is extremely light (less than 25 pounds) and durable. The view is more clear than glass and I just can't take my eyes off of it.
There was plenty of room for all of my devices. I opted with two power filters, a gang valve for two air stones and an aquarium heater. No problem at all.
I had pre ordered a 24 inch full spectrum fluorescent light and it fit perfectly.
No complaints and I am very pleased.

I've had this tank for about a month now. Before you buy one, be sure to understand the pros and cons of acrylic tanks in general. I won't go into that here. Suffice it to say I chose acrylic because my aquarium is in the family room and I wanted a sturdier safer option than glass because of the kids.
Regarding SeaClear in particular, there is limited space to work with at the top of the tank. Think of the top of the tank as yet another solid sheet of acrylic with cutouts in it to accomodate equipment. I was able to fit a TopFin 40 and tubing for a canister filter in, a heater, and airline tubing. But limited size and placement of cutouts meant I wasn't necessarily able to place all of these things exactly where I wanted to.
The light hood that comes with the tank is of flimsy construction with brittle components. I didn't bother repairing mine which had arrived broken, and just went out and got a Perfecto strip light from Petsmart. The somewhat solid top means you have many interesting options for lighting, including stick on LED lighting.
The tank itself is beautiful and seems sturdy. The dimensions are ideal for catfish who like wide, long tanks and don't necessarily need a lot of depth. (36 inch long, 15 inches wide and 16 inches deep (from top to bottom). It has been easy to care for and seems less prone to showing haze from slime or algae than my glass tank was.
I have not noticed any bowing or flexing of the acrylic when the tank is filled.
I hope PetsMart starts carrying stands that accomodate SeaClear tanks. I easily found a stand that accomodates SeaClear 40's and 50's rather rare dimensions, and with a black powdercoat finish, matches in style as well, but only online from one source.
