Rated 3 out of 5 by Brigit Seemed pretty durable when I got it. My Boykin/Lab proved it to be not so, she shredded the top, taking the rope out, and taking out the little black plug thing. She does great getting it, I have to take it from her almost immediately or she'll start chewing on it again.

Initially I liked this because it was easy to throw and my dog could see it in the water without any problems. However, the toy was broken within a few hours of my purchase. I have an eight month old Labrador retriever who loved it but he chewed the top part where the rope connects off in less than a minute. Now the rope won't stay on and the toy fills with water. The construction was pretty cheap and cannot stand up to mild chewing.
I generally like this brand and I wish this toy were more durable but I was disappointed this time. I would not recommend this if your dog is going to chew on this toy for even a brief amount of time.
While I realize this is not intended as a chew toy, the product was cheap and could not stand up to the day-to-day wear of a labrador. I got less than 2 hrs of use out of this toy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by birddog great start for beginner hunting dogs. it is NOT a chew toy, so leaving your dog unattended with it or allowing excessive mouthing would destroy the bumper. easy to throw a grip, my lab pup enjoys it.

Within 10 minutes my dog was able to chew through the top where the rope is connected.
