Sand or sanded perches are awful on a bird's feet. It dries them out and often leads to foot problems. It's best just to trim your bird's nails.

These perch covers helped somewhat with my birds nails, and they liked to sit on the perches with these on them overall a nice product, but not a must-have.

I wouldn't reccomend them because:
a) After a few months of use, the sand covering wears off
b) They do not have any self-adhesive so they somtimes slip.
