MARINELAND® 37 Gallon LED Hood Aquarium & Stand Ensemble
Crude but effective fix for these LED lights.
When I first opened the box it hit me immediately that this is going to get wet and stop working. The clear plastic protector is wobbly, the LEDs on the light fixture are exposed. Here's what I've done:
- Get one of those clear plastic bubble shells, you know, the ones that are impossible to open. Cut out a rectangle out of the back side and use RTF silicon glue(found in any automotive store, it's the same stuff used on the aquarium seams) to glue it onto the light fixture. Don't put too much glue as it may squeeze into the LEDs, just enough to create a waterproof seal all the way around. Let it dry. You've just created a waterproof shield for the LED panel.
- Do the same thing with the acrylic light shield that sits loosely in the aquarium cover-- glue it with the silicon glue to the black aquarium cover. Extra protection!
It's a crude solution, obviously compensating for the engineering oversight of the manufacturer, but it works. I've had a similar but smaller aquarium for about 3 years and the LEDs still work, even if there's condensation and splashback.

Lights get wet and wont work
I really like the hood and the lights work really well, but where the lights sit in the hood get water in it because it is not sealed and over time the lights will go bad, if it weren't for that they would have five stars.

LED light bar
I initially wrote that I had problems with the light bar not lasting long and was not happy trying to find replacement. Well I did read my paperwork and contacted Marineland who very kindly have sent a replacement at no cost. Appreciate it when a company stands behind their product. Thanks and would buy again!!

Nice kit but LED light bar quite.
All in all nice set up for price but LED lights on bar only worked about a week and can't seem to find a reasonable replacement for just the light bar.
