by MissDeevi Great Little Filter - No Complaints Here
I actually bought the more expensive Fluvel in tank 20-40 gallon filter but when I got home it had this Whisper i10 in the box. I was obviously mad but wanting to get my fish in the bigger tank right away I started looking up reviews and this got way better reviews than the Fluvel. Decided not take it back to the store and just keep it and it works great in my 20 gallon tank. If I used it in a 10 gallon I could imagine the water would be crystal clear. My water is pretty much Crystal clear but I have 6 very poopy fish and 18 also very poopy fry. A couple more partial water changes and a new filter pack in a week or so and this filter will be even better. Whoever says this isn't great is probably a fish tank snob who is expecting canister cleaning at economy filter prices.

I had originally gone into the store to purchase a different filter, but they were out. So I bought the Whisper 3i thinking it could run my 5.5gal until my other filter came in the mail then I would move the 3i to my 2.5gal tank. I already have issues with this filter and I've only been running it for a few hours.
1. The clip needs to go and the suction cups need to come back. The clip is not big enough to fit over the sides of either of my tanks because of the lip for my hoods.
2. There is almost too much aeration. I have tried it with the filter facing both ways and yet air is still bubbling up loudly before flowing through the filter.
3. The air pump. Yes I know air pumps are suppose to hum...well this one is humming loud enough for me to here it when I walk in my front door which is on the other side of my apartment and down a flight of steps. So this filter will be unplugged at night if my music doesn't drown it out.

I bought this just recently to replace a poorer brand and it works perfectly! The previous filtre left the water cloudy, even with regular water changes, but once I installed this one the water became very clear overnight. My Cilantro loves it, and plays in the little "waterfall" as well.

My 10-year old son received the AquaFarm fish kit for Christmas. It was a simple acrylic tank, and at the top were some spaces for plants to grow--supposedly the fish's waste would help the plants grow and the roots of the plants would clean the water for the fish. Nice idea, but it didn't work, and I felt really bad for the betta. So basically, we scrapped the little air filter the AquaFarm came with, scrapped the plants, and decided to just convert it into a straight-up betta tank. Since the tank is approxiimately 3-gallons, I needed a micro-filter. I've had bettas before, I know they like still water and so the filter I need couldn't be too powerful. The one I ended up getting was the Tetra Whisper 3i filter. It was easy to set-up, and the filter seems to be keeping the water clear and clean. I do weekly water changes of 25%, and I've just changed the filter cartridge. That was a snap, by the way! I did put a little cylindrical filter sponge on the exterior of the shaft because I was worried about the delicate betta fins getting caught there. The air pump isn't totally silent, but it's not unbearable. Occasionally, the filtered water seems to be only a trickle. I don't know if that's a sign of the filter/pump failing, but it's still alive and kicking right now. I feel it was a good price, and if it fails, if I can find it on sale, I'd probably procure a replacement of the same type.
