I went with this since I do like Aqueons products but this little heater didn't work and stopped working. It only kept my 5 gallon tank at 74 degrees and eventually stopped working. So better to get a normal heater for your tank.

I have a betta in a 5 gallon tank . This wonderful heater keeps my tank 80-82 degrees which is beyond perfect for my betta . He is very active and happy with this heater in his tank . I've had absolutely no problems at all with this heater . It takes about 1-2 hours to heat up but after that it keeps you're tank heated until you unplug it. Some reviews say that the heater over heats or doesn't get hot enough but my heater is staying at the perfect temperature . I would recommend this heater to anyone with a tank 2.5 gallons and up. Also if you buy this tank make sure to buy a thermometer. Overall i'm so happy with this product.

I just got my betta and I wanted to buy a heater for him. So I bought this heater and a thermometer and set everything up. After 2 hours, I checked the thermometer to make sure that it was working. It was definitely working... so well that it heated the water up to 86 degrees!
I got a sample of the water and measured it using another thermometer. Same result. I unplugged it and returned it the next day.

Rated 1 out of 5 by eascusa 2 of them stopped working in only 2 weeks!
I bought 2 of these a week apart from each other at a out of town PetSmart store. I had to drive an hour to the nearest one. Everything seemed fine until only 2 weeks of using it. One of them was 3 weeks old. They both seemed to just stop working! I know this sounds really weird for not one but two of them to break at the same time but that is exactly what happened. Everything else in the outlet I used works. Plus, I tried both of them in other outlets. Nothing! They don't get warm anymore. What the heck happened here! I woke up to some really cold fishies! Which actually has been the issue for longer than this morning. I just thought something else is wrong such as maybe its too being too cold in my house or something. And having it in a 5 gallon tank. The maximum it allows. So,I figured at first it must be that until I actually checked to see if it was warming up. I only noticed because my beta tanks are the same temp as they were and they don't have heaters. I must say I am very disappointed and upset about this. I sure hope I saved my receipt!
