Rated 4 out of 5 by AllyAS Good Tank...but needs better lighting
I purchased this tank during the summer when Petsmart was having their huge sale and it has been working very well since but I ended up having a very bad brown algae problem and I have 2 large airstones so I knew it wasn't a water circulation problem. I also clean the tank once a week. So I ended up buying a pleco and a high output lighting system and that has cleared the problem. So just keep in mind you may have to by a new light.

Well this is my first review so here it is... Like I said good tank bad top. I have had this tank sense July it was on sale for $80 so I got it. At first it was a good tank but I am using it as a turtle tank it has been very hard to clean and last night when I was cleaning it I set the top down on carpet and it cracked very badly and like I said I SET it down. But other than that it is a great tank.

This is a good aquarium and has a lot of room to leave your options open for your set up. Only downfall is I got the 40 gallon wide and the light the supply is not sufficient. Overall I would recommend this product.

by PetSmartGal Great tank
I have been out of the aquarium hobby for almost 12 years, and wanted to start up again. So I bought a 5.5 gallon just to see if I reeeeeeally wanted to do this. Well, less than two months later I bought this 40g breeder and and I love it! Years ago I had a 55g and I thought that was the perfect size.....I like this one better. With it being 18 inches front to back there is so much room for my fish to swim around in, not just side to side. The whole tank just seems really well balanced, not top heavy like some of the other tall tall tanks that are only about 12 inches wide...I've never gotten why anyone would want a tall tank...fish swim lengthwise not up and down, but hey, each to his/her own. The glass canopy is very sturdy, you just have to put the handle on yourself...just know that once it's placed, you cannot move it, so commit to the area you want it before taking off the strip. I have two live plants in there right now and am planning on expanding that number. It's pretty bare at this stage, but with aquariums, it's always a work in progress.
