Tetra® Whisper 3i In Tank Filter
Requires maintenance EVERY day.
I bought this type of filter maybe less than a year ago, and have two 2.5 gallon tanks with Bettas in them. The first month of having them, it worked great, and my Bettas became more lively now that the water was beig oxygenated. However, both of them started to either loose air flow or make a horrid noise from the actually filter, not the air pump. I cleaned it good, and it worked for only a day before they stopped circulating the water like before. Normally, the water would come out of the top of the filter as it ran through, but it stopped doing that. I called customer service, and they told me that the filter needed cleaning. So I cleaned it once more, and the same thing happened the very next day. Also, bubbles started to flow out of the bottom of the filter if I didn't reattach everything perfectly, which made it not work almost at all.
As long as I'm doing maintenance on it every day, it works fine, but I work full time AND take care of a little one at home so I don't always have time to think about my poor fishies in their tanks. Overall, if you're willing to put the time into it, you can have it if you have a tiny tank. I'm currently doing research to finding something else appropriate to my tank size that I would rather use.

Awesome for a really small nano tank
I have a 43 gallon african cichlid tank and decided to build a tiny half gallon neon tetra tank for fun. This filter works great for up to 3 gallons.
