Grreat Choice® Hooded Cat Pan
We got our first cat about a year and half ago and thought a regular litter pan would be fine. Well HA! That didnt last long - cleaning up litter off the floor was a pain and since it was in our restroom it was unsightly as well. I went to my local PetSmart and found this for a very good price so I decided to try it. So glad I did. Now we just have to sweep up after the little bit she drags out on her paws. To me she's a regular size cat and fits through the door just fine. It is a bit big but fit our large bathroom and now our laundry room (we moved) just right. It's pretty sturdy, its basically the same plastic as kitchen garbage cans are made out of. We've had it for a year now and haven't had any problems with it and will get another one when time, but I don't know when that will ever be.

NOT, I repeat NOT the "elephant in the room"
I would never do without a hooded litter box EVER! I have had various ones over the many years I've had kittties. Kitties love to get in the box and dig and dig and also throw it around. Cleaning up walls with dirty wet litter on them is so awful and it looks unsanitary too.
I have 7 right now and I have two of
these hooded litter boxes and they work wonderfully. The only thing they don't like is the swinging door which is easily taken off.
This litter box is economical and has a soft gray color that easily blends in a room. It is big enough to fit my big maine coons and my one 17 pound tuxedo kitty too. By the way, I would never do ! those sifting liners either. Fabulous! Keeps litter box clean. Super easy clean up! Love them!

The Elephant in the Room
I bought this a few months ago because I wanted a second litter box in the house. It was priced at less than half of any other covered litter box (plus I got free shipping). However now that I've had it for a few months, I regret the purchase. The box is HUGE!!!
No liner on the market fits and it takes a lot of litter just to fill it to a two or three inch depth. Plus the lid is difficult to snap off. Changing the litter is a chore because I have to use a black Hefty bag just to dump the contents....and did I mention that it's a big, beige monstrosity in the middle of my upstairs bathroom? To say it's an "eyesore" is being kind.
On the plus side, it's pretty sturdy and the swinging door has never fallen off. I guess it would be suitable for someone's basement or garage...not a small bathroom. It was a thrifty purchase and guess as a money-saver it's suitable.

Opening too small
The top is nice and tall but the opening is WAY too small. I have a big cat. Not a fat cat, just a big cat and he almost got stuck going into the opening for the first time. That spooked him so much that I've had to remove the top and just use the bottom of the pan. A mighty expensive litter pan...and I ordered THREE of these ! I may have to get a jig saw blade to cut plastic and cut the opening larger so I can use the top....I can't imagine why the opening is made so small.
