Martha Stewart Pets® Classic Ribbon Dog Collar
Not at all what I hoped for.
Petsmart.com doesn't offer the actual dimensions of each of the collars of this brand and style. The only dimensions they show are "Dimensions: .25 X 1 X 29" and it does not mention which particular size it is for such as Large or X-Large.
I purchased the X-Small collar for my 10 pound nearly fully grown terrier mix. He has a longer than average neck for a dog his size so I was really hoping the collar would be wider. It is not. In fact it is very narrow which worries me for when we go on walks as the leash can cause damage to his neck. He is a rescue and we are working on basic obedience training so he tends to go anywhere he wants on walks which can cause pulling of the leash.
Otherwise, the collar appears to be made well, seems sturdy and will likely last a long time.
I chose the green collar and the color itself is not that noticeable as it's a darker kind of gray green which is a muted color. The base of the collar is that tan color. I picked the green thinking the base color would be the vibrant green PetSmart.com shows as the color. nope. PetSmart.com has not linked the actual photos of the different colored collars so we can see the difference.
It works for us though, since our rescue is a very dark brown/red/black mix of (nearly solid) color so the tan does stand out like we hoped.
There is a very long tag (like a t-shirt tag) on the collar which is annoying when you are clipping the collar on the dog. I will likely cut the tag off as it serves no real purpose other than to label the collar with it's style information.
The collar does not sit flat like normal collars do where it buckles. It may over time flatten out some but due to the stiffness of the material and the small nature of the buckle it puckers. I do like that there are 2 tabs where the end of the collar tucks into.
I may have to buy a sewing machine (which we've been wanting to get anyway) and make a hand-made nylon collar for him with materials that are wider for his long neck to minimize strain on him.
I'm not thrilled with this collar but I am happy with it as it does seem high quality as far as low cost collars go. Even then, this is not low cost by any means.
I do like the fact it has grommets where the holes are for the buckle tine to rest in. It helps keep the collar from fraying over time due to friction of the nylon on the tine.
I recommend this if you have a truly tiny dog (X-Small) which fits 6 to 10 inch neck sizes. But if you have a dog that small I do recommend using a harness instead of simply the collar.
This collar is good for holding the required ID tags but I do worry about damage to my dog's throat if used for walks.

I don't usually write reviews, but felt I should after TWO of these collars broke on me. The part that keeps breaking off is part of the plastic "clasp", so one pull on the leash and the collar will come off your dog, letting it loose. Never had this issue with any other collars and these were only 4 months old. Very cute collars from Martha Stewart line, but I question the durability.
