Good as Pets
I recently had 8 comet goldfish in one tank that was a 10 gallon. They loved it, I had a heater, filter, lights, and a fake submarine they would dodge in and out of. They grew fairly slowly in the 5 / 6 months they lived, and were very easy to take care of. I purchased 2 snails from Petsmart to place in the tank to maintain the algae, but if they got lazy or sick the fish ate them. However, I had to keep Ammo Lock ( a product also purchased at Petsmart to keep the goldfish ammonia down ) in the tank in order for them to live in the tank of that size. These fish are easy to feed, take car of, and I would recommend them highly for anyone looking for a first time fish or just something fun. Hope I could help!

Great for beginners!
Comet goldfish are really good for beginning pet owners. They make a great, low maintenance pet. Best of all, they are very active! Children will spend hours watching them swim. Things you will need:
1. At least a 10-gallon fish tank, or pond. The bigger the better.
2. Filter, all goldfish and koi are very messy fish, so good filtration is recommended. Clean your filter monthly.
3. Get at least 3. Comet goldfish are social creatures and prefer to be with others of their own kind.

My goldfish is now 4 years old! These are great fish and will live long if you take good care of them. Mine is in my 29 gallon with great filtration. Please do not keep these fish in bowls!
