Synodontis Longirostris Catfish
Since Synodontis are noctural, you will see them under a night-glow lamp. They are awesome. I have had mine about 5 years now and he is about 6" long and has a HUGE top fin which looks so neat! When feeding with the night-glow lamp, he comes up to the top of the tank and eats upside down! These are very phenomenal and interesting catfish. I usually feed mine some algae wafers, although he does do an excellent job and keeping the tank clean. I have him in a CICHLID tank and he does just fine. Would not trade for anything!! Very unique and fun to watch.

An interesting addition.
I have had my upside down cat for about two years now. I rarely seem him out and about during the day since he is a catfish and all. However, am thrilled to see him late at night. He is a very interesting addition to my 29 gal tank and I love to watch him swim upside down and eat. Also, his coloring is really different. He doesn't bother anyone except my plants, which is fine by me. I had concerns that my Knight's Gobies would be a bit aggressive towards him since they all three inhabit the lower stratosphere of the tank and the Gobies are very territorial, but in two years I have had no issues. Another plus is that, for a catfish, they stay very small.

Guaranteed to start conversation!
I had two of these fish for about 3-4 years until a recent mishap with my filter. While I rarely saw these fish out in the daylight (they are rather secretive - they are, afterall, catfish), anytime they would come out it was guaranteed that they'd be upside down. That always caught people's attention, and inevitably someone would ask why the fish is swimming upside down. They love to hang out under driftwood or any other hidey-hole they can find. One even tried to take up residence under the heater - that was fine until winter. They do seem to be a bit territorial - the larger one always got prime real-estate. They never seemed to bother any other fish, and they rarely did more than chase each other around the tank. I loved these fish, and I was really saddened when they died.
