Red Clawed Crab
Not for first time tank owners
This was my first time starting an aquarium, and I had setup a freshwater tank. When they still didn't eat on the second day, I was worried. They need brackish water! Now that I have a brackish water tank with a big rock for them to climb above water, they are doing well and eating. However this all ended up being costly. If you want them, be prepared.

Would NOT reccomend these crabs...!
I hold snakes, lizards, frogs, hermit crabs, any other thing...I don't hold these. Their tank is super hard to set up, they need special water, and it is a pain to put an exact amount of brackish water. I got 7 and they died instantly! I only have 3 left. They don't eat ANYTHING! The food smells. They always seem to find ways to climb out, and you can't hold them like other crabs, they will pinch you without even giving you a chance! Much different than my hermit crabs...You cannot hold (Red Claw Crabs). Their tank gets dirty faster than light, and it smells so bad. Did I mention that they just run from you or sit there in that smelly tank. DO NOT BUY!
I love them because they are mine, but they are not worth any of your money!

Unique and Interesting pets!
Red Claw Crabs are a fun alternative to fish for aquarium hobbyists. I have 3 of them in a half-full 10 gallon aquarium with driftwood and rocks sticking out of the water for them to perch on. A must with these crabs is an internal canister filter. I have a Whisper 2-10 internal power filter in my tank which keeps the water clean and creates a peaceful waterfall. Please do your crabs a favor and keep the water brackish (1TBSP salt per gallon). I also use a submersible heater to keep the water warm and a blue light to encourage my nocturnal crabs to explore the tank during the day. Use a lid which doesn't have any openings such as a screen lid or your crabs will escape! I feed mine API Bottom Feeder pellets. Overall these crabs are the most interesting aquarium pets I've ever had and I highly recommend them! I sit and watch mine for hours :)
