We have a 50" space in our upstairs hallway, which ended up being a "perfect storm" of the exact inconvenient measurement for this gate. It was too wide to fit the long extension firmly, and too narrow to fit both extensions.
The extension pieces are too flimsy. We have a 65-pound dog who repeatedly knocked over the gate in other areas of our home, when we weren't there.
The cat door also is too big. Our 65-pound dog (shockingly) fit through the cat door. So... this gate did not work for us at all.

Excellent quality and works beautifully. The walk through feature will save your falling trying to step over.
I would highly recommend, we purchased 2 and very glad we did.

We were looking for a gate or something that we could put at the top of our steps going to basement. It had to keep dogs from going downstairs where our cats have litter box and food. Dogs were helping themselves to cat food and doing other bad things that I won't mention. We were considering cutting a hole in our door and putting in some kind of flap, but we really didn't want to cut a hole in an inside door. Our next door neighbor has this gate and after looking at it, we decided to give it a try. It does just what we wanted it to do. Had to work with cats for just a couple of days but they are very comfortable now going thru gate. Would highly recommend this gate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Larksmom With an old cat that spends most of her time sleeping on our bed and a newly adopted 1 y.o. 50 pound bulldog lab mix that loves to torment her, this gate is a life saver! Within a half hour of putting the gate up I was flabbergasted to see our big 50 pound dog go through that little door in the gate! I would never have thought it possible. We solved that problem by cutting one of the two bars out of the little door so that it could remain latched at all times. The cat has no problem getting through and the dog hasn't even tried to get through it again :)
