We bought this for my brothers hermit crabs at first because we were not very educated on the kind of homes needed for small. Buy a terrarium and glass cover with substrate

this kit is not the best for hermit crabs they don't like the sand and sand is not good because it doesn't hold burrows good and it does not keep humidity very well. the best substrait is eco earth so if you get this kit with eco earth and something to climb and a food and water dish with sea sponge it would work very well. but the maximum amount of crabs you should put in there is 1-2 crabs if you put 3 crabs you will crowd them which they do not like.

Rated 1 out of 5 by krazycrestedlady terrible "house" for crabs
this is NOT a suitable cage for hermit crabs. they require deep substrate to burrow and molt in which you cannot provide in this cage. it holds no humidity, which crabs need to breathe and for basic life functions.
this cage is way too small, as crabs in the wild walk up to 50 miles a day looking for food and exploring. this is not a good beginer kit, as it gives the new pet owner the wrong idea about how to properly house and care for this type of animal.

Rated 2 out of 5 by WolFF This is not for Hermit Crabs
This is more made for hamsters or if you are transporting your hermit crab.
Hermit Crabs need humidity and the wire frame completely throws that out the window. Hermit's also need at least 3" of sand so they can burrow and molt. Without sand they die.
It's hard to keep sand in this, it often leaks out the wire parts, and most of all it retains no humidity whatsoever.
It's small and easy to clean since it's mostly plastic parts.
Though with the humidity + the water the wire parts over time start to rust.
I do not recommend buying this.
