I was at a nearby Petsmart debating between the Bitter Apple fancy brand and the Top Paw Bitter No Chew. Money was not an issue, I just wanted to make sure the product worked since my darling dog had just undergone front paw surgery and he was absolutely not supposed to chew or lick the bandages or sutures.
The salesclerk had zero experience with these products so she called a manager over to help me. While I waited, I sprayed the Bitter Apple on the back of my left hand and the Bitter No Chew on back of right hand. Then I licked :)
The Bitter Apple did not taste good, but then I licked the No Chew and started to gag, almost vomited in the store, it was SO horrible! I had that taste in my mouth the entire day and felt sick.
So I bought the TOP PAW Bitter No Chew since it clearly was the winner in my 'taste' experiment.
I've learned since then that it is oil based and really sticks to whatever you spray it on - even when dry - even days later - so I constantly have a bad taste in my mouth and on my fingers & under my nails even after hand washing & scrubbing.
My dog is not licking the paw where I sprayed, in fact, he tucks that paw underneath him to get away from it.
I certainly would not recommend spraying it inside a crate or kennel where the pet has to lie on it and can't get away - that would be torture. Spray it on what you don't want chewed up, but the dog needs to be able to get away.
Wear gloves and don't inhale! If you touch the surface of whatever you sprayed, you will have it on your hands. It's like skunk spray.
The good news is that I might lose my holiday weight gain since that awful after-taste in my mouth kills my appetite :)

by PennyGirl Worked wonders on training our new dog
Stopped our new dog from chewing on shoes and kitchen chairs. Only had to apply twice and her bad little habit was gone.

I bought the Top Paw Bitter No Chew spray because my puppy would bite at the couch cushions for attention. He also bit the moulding on the corner of a wall once. I sprayed this on the wall where he had previously bitten and he walked up and sniffed it. Then he walked away. I had to spray a bit more on the edges of the couch cushions but he has stopped. I have had the bottle about a month and did not use the whole bottle. I may have applied it to the couch and chair twice. I would recommend it.
