by spitfyr They loved it - and destroyed it quickly
Picked this out at the store without reading any online reviews. The two young cats loved it - and destroyed it almost immediately. Literally 5 minutes later it looked like the attached pic. On one hand I'm glad they enjoyed it, on the other hand wow it is poorly made and fragile - especially for Kong branded stuff. Don't waste your 6 bucks!

While no other toy in our considerable kitty arsenal interests her any longer, this toy always brings out the fierce jungle kitty in her. I agree with the reviewers who pointed out that the bamboo middle section is fragile and the feathers come out with vigorous pulling and tearing (like a cat would do with prey). It takes our old girl about two weeks to completely destroy one of these; it would be faster if she played for longer than about 20 minutes at a time. Still, it's what she likes and I'll keep buying them as long as she'll play with them.

I don't think this lasted even a minute before my young cat had the feathers all over the kitchen floor. Poorly made....expected better. Kong products are usually so good.

Rated 3 out of 5 by cjw928 I love it but the cats don't agree.
I have an 8 month old kitten and a 1 1/2 year old Maine Coon.... they both love to destroy their toys, esp my kitten who finds great joy in tearing out feathers. I thought for sure this toy wouldn't last very long. Well... it's been a couple months now and it's only lost a grand total of 3 feathers. They barely play with it... the only time I've ever seen either of them even notice it is when my kitten feels like tearing out another feather. I actually bought this for our older cat who loves the crunchy feel of cardboard and other crunchy feeling things in his mouth (not to mention he loves feathers...of course) so this, I thought, was perfect. He loved it for about 30 seconds, got bored, and hasn't even sniffed it sense.
BIG bummer for Kong who I've been loyal too with most things. Aside from our toy's iconic red kong toy that you fill with peanut butter, everything else we have from Kong has been a big let down. I have the $40+ cat bed too... only my dog likes it and she doesnt even fit in it. Oh well... at least they'll play with cardboard boxes still.
