Grreat Choice® Dog Carrier
Not really so grreat...
Price point is terrific - but as all other reviewers have pointed out - the 2 halves do not fit flush together when the wing nuts & bolts are affixed. I purchased the hard-to-find 32" size primarily for travel by auto, so airline shipping is not a concern for me. However, it is enough of a design flaw that I would likely not repeat this purchase. All other plastic carriers I've purchased from other manufacturers have always had the bottom piece fit UP INTO the molding of the top piece - I've never seen one before where the 2 piece sit evenly together. Please fix this design flaw - and you would probably outsell all the other manufacturers!

Average price, average quality
Part of what I liked about this crate is that it came in a hard-to-find 32" size without the $80+ pricetag that Petmate boasts.
The halves of the crate don't seamlessly meet together; 1cm gap even with bolts snugly fastened all the way around. Front gate is difficult to close and there is a 1in gap when the front gate is attached.
Not sure I would trust this crate for air travel and for the $$$ feel it's really just an "average" kennel. If your dog happily goes into his or her crate and just goes to sleep without chewing or rocking the crate -- this would probably be an OK investment.

I registered on this site just to write this review. This thing is garbage, assembly is unclear and difficult, moving parts are mostly plastic. Carrier is not left/right agnostic like my last one. If it wasn't a painful drive, I'd just go return it, unfortunately I need the crate now.
I guess Kong thinks the charm in their products is that they're all plastic? If you want to trust your pet's safety and security (especially while traveling) to plastic "locks" and plastic "strap buckles" then my fingers are crossed for them.
And really, who is giving this 4 stars? I don't buy it.

After having bought and been very happy with another generic crate like this from a competitor, I thought I would buy this one. Big mistake.
It arrived wrapped with strapping tape, not even in a box so it was scuffed and bent. I also realized 40" is the outside dimension and the inside is not even 36" long making it a tight fit (guess that one is totally on me; I bought my other ones in person and went on look not the numbers) and should have returned it right then. Mind you I have had probably 6 vari-kennel type crates over the years.
The pieces do not fit together nicely and there are gaps as can be seen in the image above. I am not sure what the point is of the tie down hole as I have YET to find anything that will fit through it except for smaller cord than I would like. Definitely not tie down hooks or even bungee hooks or carabiners. I would up putting 4 zip ties through it figuring that would maybe be ok.
At this point I am not sure if the top is supposed to nest inside the bottom or be level. I am thinking of taking my dremel, cutting off the nibs and doing just that then securing with cable ties. Right now I don't find this to be a very strong crate at all. Fortunately it is just for overnights in motel rooms so I don't have to uninstall my heavy aluminum dog boxes from the truck.
