Royal Canin® Urinary SO Cat Food
My cat has been eating this for about 3 years. He was diagnosed with crystals after I noticed he had bloody urine. I first started him on just the dry SO and the regular canned food we had always fed him. The dry SO cleared it up a bit, but he was still periodically having bloody urine. The vet suggested I switch his canned to SO as well and the two combined did the trick. He has been symptom free ever since.

SO FAR, SO GOOD!
We have 4 cats and 2 of them have had urinary problems. So our Vet put them on this food. They get the dry form at breakfast and the wet (canned) for dinner. They really need the moisture to help keep away the urinary problems. Since using this food, there have been no more problems. We put all 4 cats on it because they love the taste. It's expensive, but if it works, it's worth it!! Those urinary problems can really add up at the Vet's office.

The high cost likely offsets higher cost vet bills
I have a 5 year old neutered, female mutt-cat/tabby. She had a UTI of some sort that cost me about $225 for exam, urinalysis and antibiotic shot. Cat was better in a couple days, but UTI returned about a month later. Back to the vet, same charges + x-ray, but I left with a bag of Royal Canin Vet Diet Urinary SO. No sign of any problems over the last 3 months, so I suspect it's working. She loves the food, as well, which I did not expect. Worth the price, from my perspective....

Worth the Expense
I have a male tabby who is eight years old. Three years ago, he nearly died from bladder crystals and after a hefty $900 vet bill, he was put on this food and stayed on it for two years with no more problems. A year ago, I adopted another cat, a year-old and was worried about him eating a prescription food when he didn't need it. Since my older cat had no problems in two years, I decided to switch to a non-prescription food - Blue - which promoted urinary health and digestion. Within three weeks, my older cat was back at the vet with crystals again. Despite the high price of this food, I believe that it is well-worth it. My vet said my other cat should be okay eating it, and I have decided trying to change something that is potentially a lifesaver for my older cat is just not worth the lower cost. The only reason this food doesn't rate a five-star in my book, is that for such a high cost, I think the food should not be made out of meal and by-products.
