Top Paw Dog Harness
chest too big and not very adjustable
I will be returning this harness to the PetsMart store that I purchased it from. I carefully measured my dog (a 15 pound terrier mix) and bought the correct harness based on his girth measurement. The small harness should have fit. while it fit really well through the girth (around him just behind the front legs) it was way too big through the chest and there was no way to tighten it further unless I wanted to alter it by sewing it. I like the concept but the execution was not great.

Definitely not for small dogs
I had a similar experience to another user - I have a Pom who I bought an XS harness - it seemed great at first but in 5 minutes, she nearly popped out of it. This was terrifying since we were walking near a major road! I'm fairly certain I put it on her correctly and other reviewers have had similar complaints so I'd have to say this harness is not well designed for small dogs.

Not for small dogs
I agree with reviewers with the smaller breeds. Bought the XS in this harness. My Havanese slipped out of it while at the park....and he wasn't even trying. It only adjusts for the girth, not the chest. And there is a gap. As my dog is still a puppy (at 9 lbs, should get to 12-15 lbs), I'm holding on to harness in hopes he will grow in to it. If not...will make a good chew toy. Does look good on him though, will most likely look great if he gets to grow into it and the harness becomes a good fit. If it does, then my review rating may change.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but my little guy is able to pop his arms out of the harness and he's wearing an XS. My little guy is approx 7-9 lbs, so the XS should fit fine, however there's also a significant gap between his chest and the harness even though the harness is tightened as much as possible. The only thing that prevents this product from receiving a 1-star rating is that the D-rings on top prevent him from fully escaping through the harness when his arms pop out. I will definitely be going back to the harnesses in which the dog's head goes through the front. While this step-in harness might be okay for larger dogs, probably not the best for toy breeds.
