MARINELAND® 5 Gallon Eclipse Hexagon Aquarium
Overall I like this set up for a small desk aquarium. Depending on what you put in there I would suggest getting a LED bulb to replace the one that comes in the package. For what I used the tank for I read that the biggest problem that seahorses have is that they get burned from the light shinning in or items such as corals. The LED is a simple fix and the tank temp will not increase as it would with the standard bulb. In many cases you may want the heat but in this one I did not.
The biggest thing I needed to overcome was I was using very fine gravel (more like very course sand) and it had initially sucked a few pieces up into the filter and caused it to freeze the impeller. After cleaning it out a couple times I have not had more problems with that.
I would have preferred an under gravel filter over an external one (in the hood). The opening for the intake is too big for very small items. For these small seahorses I set it up that I used 3 sections of kit #TF-11-215 and the tube from the filter fit perfectly to the tube from the under gravel filter. If you are using any gravel other than FINE you would be happy with this set up. I solved the issue with the "fine" gravel by wrapping the 3 sections with a piece of panty hose.
I also added a "plastic plant" to dissipate the incoming flow which though just about right for the size was a bit much for seahorses.
Suggestions & Thoughts:
All easy fix options....... We will see how long the impeller holds up in the salt water.
1) Perhaps a ceramic shaft over the metal may be a consideration.
2) LED bulb in the box instead.
3) UNDERGRAVEL filter so no concerns about sucking fish into filter.

Great tank for an inexpensive price!
I live away at school, and I decided to upgrade tank size to this 5 gallon hexagon. It fits nicely on my desk and doesn't occupy more space that necessary. I was able to set up the tank under 25 minutes and my fish absolutely love it. The filtration system isn't cheaply made, and it keeps the water crystal clear for a much longer time than I thought it would. This is my first marine land product and I would definitely recommend it.

Extremely Nice Tank!
I have had many many tanks and this one is the best i have ever had! The acrylic tank itself is beautiful! Yes being Acrylic it does scratch easily but since I always have bare bottom tanks that isn't an issue for me as gravel usually is the culprit for scratches. The hood is excellent!! I love how the filter and light are all in the hood and there are places for the wires to travel and hide. Plenty of space to add a heater and even a fairly large decoration. I don't mind having to take the filter and hood off to do cleaning as the beautiful solid clean look of the hood makes up for that completely. Perfect size for a single betta! All other tropical fish would not have enough side to side swimming room and a single goldfish being such a dirty fish would trash this tank out in no time! I recommend this tank to anyone! I am very very satisfied with this product!
