Bought this barrier about two months ago and it's been a constant battle to keep it from rattling. Here's my somewhat effective solution to the rattling. Pull the threaded supports out and wrap a very thin layer of foam sheet packing (like that used on electronics#. This layer must be thin enough to be able to get the threaded rod back through the end trim piece on the barrier. #If you haven't attached the ceiling support feet yet, you may be able to insert the wrapped threaded rods through the top.) Install the barrier as instructed. Keeping the threaded rods tight helps reduce the rattle.
This barely works for my Ford Explorer due to contours in the ceiling of the vehicle.

Recently purchased for my Jeep Grand Cherokee, fits perfectly and was easy enough to assemble. However, on our first trip (about 30 minutes each way) the rattling and noise being produced by the gate was so loud and unbearable. I was hoping to keep the gate in my car, as we travel often, but don’t know if I can stand the noise; I felt bad for my dog who had to listen to it the whole time. I’m going to try to tape the joints to reduce the noise but very disappointed overall.

Purchased this unit about a month ago. Became annoyed of the rattling.. quick fix.. electrical tape on ends of threaded bars and exits of threaded bar, also on the trombone assemblies.. nice and quiet now

My lab/mastiff mix (67 lbs) was able to put his paws on the top tubular barrier, push it down, and jump over. It was as tight as it would go, and still my dog was able to push it down and jump over. I would not recommend this for a large dog. Probably for a medium sized, or smaller dog it would be fine.
