I hesitated to buy a breakaway collars for my two cats but I decided to. They don't go outside, but they need a collar to hang their feeder microchip from. Within 30 seconds of putting this on my one cats had pulled it off. So I tightened it a little. He still pulled it off. So that's $4.19 down the drain. My other cat has kept his on so far, but it's probably only a matter of time before he figures it out, since he's not pleased to have a collar on and it breaks away so easily. So that'll be another $4.19 down the drain.

Neither of my cats have worn a collar for a very long time. The older one would always get her breakaway collars off after a few hours of me putting it back on. Not the case here (at least, not yet). Both cats have been wearing their collars and tags for a few days already, and I've yet to see either without it. The breakaway buckle has a stiffer release than other collars I've tried, and once it's properly adjusted (two fingers are all I can get under either collar) I don't have to worry about my girls getting their collars off, or stuck around their arms or jaws - one of my biggest paranoias with collars.

I purchased the collar with a bell to "warn" birds and small furry animals that my cat (Ninja) is around..It's doing the job, no murders since she's been wearing it!

I realized, after ordering this collar, that I didn't know how a breakaway collar operates! So I took the collar (and the ID tag, which I had ordered elsewhere) to the PetSmart store near my home and was assisted by a very nice young lady who works at the store. She put the tag on the collar as well as using the pliers I had brought to put on the tag. I felt pretty silly when I realized that the breakaway collar really DID break away! My cat is now wearing the collar;she's three years old and seems fine with the tag/collar, although it's the first collar she has ever worn. We've recently moved to a brand new area, and I felt I could not let her outside until she had a collar/tag around her neck.
