The cage is relatively small in size, but as long as you do not overcrowd it with toys or other things that your budgie may fly into, it should be fine. I have my new (and first) budgie living in this cage right now, and he seems to be just fine with it at the moment. I hear him letting out contented noises most of the time, so I am not detecting any obvious problems with the cage so far.
My only complaint is that the perches that this comes with are a bit loose. Unless you can find a way to secure them into place on the bars, expect them to slide around quite a bit whenever your budgie lands on/takes off of it.
And, if you can, try to get a wooden swing from somewhere else instead of using the one that comes with this cage. Plastic perches, swings and such are bad for a budgie to spend too much time on.

I got this cage for my parakeet, as I am in the middle of getting a larger bird that I am putting in her cage, the cage's instructions weren't very good, but it was very easy to put together, it even came with a toy! I'm putting her in it tonight, I'm hoping she likes it. She isn't tamed and the doors are pretty small (so are the food dishes, but if you're a good pet owner you'd change them once a day anyways) so I'll have an adventure, overall it's a pretty good cage, as long as you carry it from the bottom, or else it disconnects!

I love standing on my perch at the top of this cage. This is my first cage with a play stand above. I'll use it to travel with mommy around the states this summer. I'm still warming up to this new cages but I hope to use it for many years to come.
