GREENiES® Pill Pockets® Allergy Formula Dog Treat
My rescue dog obsessively licks, bites and scratches himself. I'm trying to eliminate reasons for this destructive behavior. I'm grateful PetSmart offers this Allergy pill pockets.

Stinky yet effective
Yes, there is an odor to this flavor that is not in the chicken, beef or peanut butter. However, this is the only flavor that is grain and gluten free. So, for dogs with grain or chicken allergies, this is an excellent choice. And at only 8 calories per pocket, it does not add weight to senior or less active dogs. I had tried all natural peanut butter, which my dog loved. But at 100 calories per tablespoon, and she would get a about one and a half a day, she was putting on weight. Greenies Pill Pockets are an excellent choice and if you can get used to the smell, you can't go wrong. I don't notice the smell lingering in the kitchen like another review commented on, and I wash my hands immediately after giving it to my dog. The pill my dog takes is very small, so I break the tablet size in half and then pinch it together over the pill. They are so most, they are easily broken...which helps in keeping my dogs weight under control.

Stinky, but 100% effective
In response to the previous 1 star review. Yes, these pill pockets stink. But, I have a hard time believing that any dog would turn their nose up to these things. Dogs (if you haven't noticed) love stuff that we typically think smells terrible. My dog is allergic to grains, yet needs to take 2 pills a day, and these pill pockets are a godsend!
In summary, if you expect a pill pocket to be good enough for YOU to eat, you may be disappointed by these. But, if you expect for your allergic dog to swallow these whole with a pill in the middle, then they will do the trick!

Works for us
I do agree with the review already posted. These allergy pill pockets DO STINK, badly. I've not tried the chicken or beef. Our dog does love them, thank goodness, and is not bothered by the smell. Our lab has never refused anything until she was put on a bladder medication (she's an old, old dog). I had to do something because we travel and this makes pill giving convenient for the boarding kennel. When at home, I administer the pill hidden in a spoon of peanut butter. By the way, I tried the Sentry brand because they come in peanut butter flavor and I found the quality very poor compared to the Greenies brand, they fall apart due to being very dry. We love Greenies pill pockets and are just enduring the smell. My only complaint is that at $.40 each, they are pricey. Peanut butter is much cheaper!
