This item definitely repels fleas. Now if you want to set it and forget it and don't mind the risk of poisoning your pet with harsh chemicals, then by all means stay away from this product. I discovered my cat had fleas by the time he was a week in I'd say. I just started seeing a little flea dirt in all of his favorite places so I grabbed the flea comb, went along the side of his face and neck where he's most vulnerable and found five right off the bat. Now let me say, I AM that person that is willing to put in the work to avoid chemicals. For example, I do NOT use flea shampoo, I use ordinary cat shampoo OR Dawn and kill fleas by suffocation rather than chemicals. I don't want my cat ingesting Metaflumizone, Fipronil, Imidacloprid or any other chemical. It is the number one cause of pet poisonings in the US and its pure stupidity to put it on an animal that licks it's body not to mention it also gets in the blood stream. I agree the smell of clove is overpowering, however this product only needs to remain for 24 hours to be absorbed and begin working so I spot shampooed the back of my cat with some dawn and water to minimize the essential oil smells. I'm diligent about using the flea comb morning and night with a bowl of soapy water to drown them in, to ward off my little parasitic enemies and keep the numbers low and they have traveled closer to his stomach because they do NOT like the spot treatment. While it does repel I have no evidence yet of it killing however it's only been 36 hours. Im also using sentry spray to keep his favorite places clean and to kill any egg or larvae. Of course I'm also vacuuming every other day and washing his blankets every other day and drying with high heat. So far so good, just have to kill the life cycle without hurting my pet in the meantime. My little Theodore is looking much more comfortable too...and the natural products allow us to still cuddle while he's getting better. Why would I want to use something that discourages me from touching him, isn't him being itchy and uncomfortable sad enough?!

We bought this after our vet told us that one of our cats had live fleas to try to prevent an infestation. One cat was treated by the vet, the other got this garbage. While it may look like a medicated cat pesticide, IT IS NOT AND DOES NOT HAVE ANY ACTUAL MEDICATION IN IT. This is an ampule of stinky "essential oils", that not only do not work, but smell HORRIBLE, and are actually the nearly the same ingredients as a CAT DETERRENT we bought a while back (Clove, Lemongrass/Citrus, Citric Acid). If the packaging was upfront about not being an actual pesticide, I never would have even considered it. Personally, this seems like shady advertising at best. It says "Kills and repels with natural ingredients", labels itself front and back as a pesticide, but on the back at the very bottom, it lists the ingredients, nothing you can't find at your everyday grocery store.

I bought the sentry stuff because it was cheaper. Didn't notice the package said lemongrass until I went to open. Oh man, this stuff is strong, to the point that it got me coughing. I can't even imagine what it is doing to my cat's nose. It's bad enough that we smell him across the room and I put it on a few hours ago. I am going to see if I can wash it out.
I cannot say whether or not this stinky stuff works because my cat doesn't have any fleas. I will probably never know if it works because I am going to see about exchanging it for another brand.

I will never purchase this product again. Had I known the performance beforehand I wouldn't have purchased it at all. The smell is worse than Limburger cheese and last longer than a road kill skunk.
