I am very pleased with the flea and tick collar. I like the smell of it. My cat is supposed to be an indoor cat, but she cannot resist hanging out around our house twice a day. This will give her the protection she will need since we live in an area with deer, foxes and other wildlife.

One of my indoor cats got out of the house this fall and brought back unwanted visitors. With her very long fur, we never saw a flea on her, before our short haired cat had started scratching. By that time we had a severe infestation.
We had been successful in the past deterring fleas using essential oil products when our animals were permitted to be outdoors, but stopped when they became indoor pets. We tried those first, spray-on and spot-on types applied after bathing, 2 weeks apart, followed by a powder . This helped the long haired cat, whose fur retained the oils, but not the short haired one, whose enthusiastic grooming rapidly removed the products.
In an all-out effort to make our home less hospitable to the fleas, after thorough cleaning and washing we applied diatomaceus earth ($9/4#) to the carpeted and fabric covered areas that the cats frequented. Daily inspections of the cats showed the fleas decreasing in number, but numerous enough that they were easy to find on the cats.
Somewhat hesitant to use a synthetic insecticide product, I researched the active ingredients of the OTC collars, and selected the Sentry Purrscriptions Dual collar, prepared and alert for side effects. Within a day of applying the collar, using a fine tooth comb and bright light, no adult fleas that could be found on the short haired cat. She stopped scratching, and radically reduced her grooming. There were no side effects observed.
Because this product only works on adult fleas that are in direct contact with the treated animal, not their eggs, I would not recommend this as the sole treatment for a cat with a severe flea infestation, but as useful component of a multi-pronged effort., and as a preventative.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MeowLuvr Excellent product for HELPING in flea control
Ever since purchasing this product beginning THREE yrs.ago. our 3 felines have been ALMOST flea free. They are indoor/outdoor critters, and once yearly when the parasites are picking up steam during the summer, we DO SUPPLEMENT the collars with a thorough dusting of their fur: We use ORGANIC diatomaceous earth. Flea collars in and of themselves seldom solve a problem, but they certainly do play a role in flea control. For the money, THIS BRAND of collar is a WONDERFUL tool in flea control.
