In general these test strips work as intended. However, with that being said, they tend to read high and vary slightly from strip to strip. Our new 10 gallon tank had a severely high ph level upon start up. Adding (ph down) at 2 ml between tests it still didn't show any change. Using the traditional test drops method, the vials showed an accurate change as the strips did not. After a massive (no fish involved) 20 ml dose of ph down, the strip reacted but still read high by 1 full scale.
I would only recommend these If you wanted to test on a budget.

These strips are very easy to use however, not very accurate. Far more accurate results can be had using a liquid test kit. For a little more than 10 bucks a liquid test kit can be had with better results.

Bought these Strips to test water perimeters in 5 gallon tank that we were cycling. It may have been due to our age/eyesight, but the Strips were hard to read/compare to the color codes on the container. They were most definitely EASY to use as far as "dip in tank, pull out, wait a minute and read.
