I purchased four of these little guys today for my 10 gallon tank. They appear to have adjusted well. I prepared the tank 24 hours in advance, new filter, water conditioner, slime coat to reduce stress and heater. So far, so good.

These fish are some of the best beginner fish to invest in for three reasons: they are hardy, they are beautiful, and they don't get very large (two to three inches).
I recently started a fifteen gallon tank. I started with four of these little guys. A few weeks later, I added one more along with four albino cory catfish. The two different fish get along great.
A few notes. Make sure you get at least five of these guys together. They don't technically school, but they are social and will do much better in groups. Also, I would suggest not getting more than one male for every three to four females. If you don't know how to tell the difference, look it up or ask a store employee for help. As always, make sure you have an aquarium filter and an air pump. These are standard for having any fish. Also, because these are tropical fish, invest in a water heater.
