I have several aquariums with African cichlids(over 100 fish) and have some that I have a lot of money invested in. That said, these are some of my favorites. I love how they school, aren't too aggressive, and they grew fast! They say advanced in product description, but are easy keepers if you don't put them with something completely incomparable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bri2 4-5 years ago I bought a group of acei from Sugarland Petsmart. I gave all but one away for reasons that I won't bore you with. My boy is between 6-7" now and is a beautiful violet color. I vented him to see what gender he is. The only thing is he's been harassing my yellow lab something awful in an attempt to spawn with her and she isn't having any of that. I'm debating on visiting Petsmart and getting him some friends. It would be nice if I could get some that are old enough to vent in order to only get females for this big macho man.

The Acei does well with Peacocks and Labs. This is a beautiful fish and they swim all over the tank, not just bottom dwellers or rock dwellers. They are also very intelligent, knowing their owners when they approach the tank. I would suggest NOT putting him with obnoxious Mbuna species or other aggressive fish because he will get chased constantly. Highly recommend---you won't be sorry.
