Aqueon® T5 Fluorescent Aquarium Lamp
Short life span
I purchased two of these lights in June 2012. By November one was burned out and by Jan 2012, I had to replace the second one.
Shouldn't they last at least a year?

BEST T5 Light for freshwater plants! IMO
This 6700k Spectrum is absolutely the BEST spectrum for most normal freshwater plants such as Westiera, Bacopa, Red Ludwigia and many many more common freshwater plants. The 6700K spectrum most closely resembles the spectrum of the sun that plants love! I have tried the 5500K Tropic Sun, the 6500k Floral Glo from Coralife and the 6700k Daylight from Coralife and the 6700k Daylight is by far the best looking and best light source for my plants. The color in my fish really pops out brightly under these bulbs and makes them look way more vivid and beautiful.
Also, I have 3 6700k bulbs, 2 in a 48 HE unit (28watt/bulb) spanning two 10gallons and one HO (54watt/bulb) in a 55Gal. My plants LOVE the 6700K daylight and the Water Wisteria is morphing rapidly under it! Even top cuttings (with roots shooting out at least 1"-2" of stem notches) are loving this light and growing great! ...
PS> If you buy a fixture with a 6700K and Colormax for a planted tank, I highly recommend replacing the Colormax with a second 6700K Daylight OR a 50/50 if over a Cichlid tank. The 50/50 is half 6700K and half Actinic. Enjoy and good luck!
