Zoo Med™ Betta Therm Mini Size Betta Bowl Heater is rated 1.5 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad Tank Heater This is not a heater for your tank. This heater doesn't keep your tank at a constant temperature, it will just add heat until it is well over the threshold your tank should be at. Bettas need their water to be at a good 76-78 degrees, and this heater will heat your water to well over 85 degrees. Do not but this, spend the extra money to get a heater that is temperature adjustable or has a pre-set temp., otherwise your betta will fry.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product does not work. I used this in an 3 gallon tank. There was no measurable temperature difference and the fish circled around the heater. It only made the fish look miserable and made me waste some money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not give off enough heat This heater is small, compact, and inexpensive, but you get what you pay for. It seems to make no difference at all in my aquarium's water. I have a 2.5 gallon tank for my betta and I am temporarily keeping a lamp on over the water until I get a better heater.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from no good I got this to heat up my betta's fish bowl which is actually less than 1 gallon. In the end no good, it hardly produces any heat. For a second I thought it wasn't working but putting it to my hand I hardly felt any heat and what little it gave off was not distributing evenly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work well I have this in a gallon tank for my beta and the poor guy stays close to it since its not putting out enough heat. Its been checked, can feel its warm to the touch but pretty bad if the product doesn't work for a one gallon. it must mean its for a mini mini tank! This is also my second one to do the same thing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work well. I would advise buying a different heater. This one only raised my temperature 2 degrees and my poor fish stayed near the bottom of the tank right by the heater.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Never. Unless you've got the magic room that stays at a stable 70F and never, ever fluctuates, this is not the right product for heating. It's not certain of how much higher than room temperature it will go (so you'd have to figure out your product's tolerance through experience), and whether or not it's even stable is a guess at best. Do your fish a favor and put it in the right size tank. For a betta, go for three gallons at absolute minimum and get a programmable heater

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Where has the been my (betta's) whole life?! I wanted a heater that would be big enough to efficiently heat the new tank I'm getting my male crowntail Betta at Christmas (the 3 gallon version of the Hawkeye 360 tank sold at Petsmart currently), but small enough that I could use it in the one I have him in now (a 1/2 gallon acrylic tank) without being too strong or taking up too much space. So far, this little heater is meeting the latter of those criteria beautifully. I set up my tank as normal, with the only differences being a new plant, new gravel (more like new decorative glass pebbles, my fish greatly prefers them over traditional gravel), and, of course, the heater itself. Everything else was put in as normal, and I used the same water conditioner as I usually do. The round shape made for somewhat limited placement in my tank, but that wasn't surprising given that the tank has a rather unique shape. However, in a traditional round bowl like the kind my roommate has her Betta in, I can see its design being an extreme advantage. Currently, it's about 75 degrees in my house, which is VERY rare, as normally my family keeps it MUCH cooler year-round. When I plugged the heater in, the water was about 72 degrees and the house thermostat read 74. After hitting room temperature, however, the heater warmed the water to a more ideal 80 degrees within 2 hours without stressing my Betta in the least. As of this review, my thermometer is right at 84 degrees. The temperature has gone up only 2 degrees over this past hour and seems to be holding steady, so I'm becoming much more confident that it isn't going to overheat my fish anytime soon. As for the fish, my little Betta, Luxembourg, seems much, MUCH happier with his new heated digs and is actually looking more vibrant. Then again, that might just be his new diet kicking in, or my imagination at work. All in all, I'm extremely satisfied with this heater and will be recommending it to my roommate for her Betta as well.
