If you have tropical fish in a 5 gallon tank with this heater replace it! Had a collection of baby fish in a 5gal tank with this heater dyring the winter. One day I put my hand in the water and said "the feels cold." the heater was only keeping the water at 60 degrees. Repaced it with a 25 watt heater and it was able to keep the tank above 70 degrees. 10 Watts is not high enough for up to 5 gallons, it should ne used which not more than 2-3 gallons.

Put this in my 10 gallon, and it is still holding up after 3 months! A lot of people say it doesn't work, but you have to let it heat up for 2 hours. After that, it'll pretty much regulate itself. Sometimes in the cold morning's I'll find that my tank is at 70 instead of the perfect 78 (for bettas). That's pretty much the only "problem". It'll usually stay at 78 throughout the day into the evening though. The design is very nice and sleek, but I still don't know if this is submersible so I keep it at the "minimum" line. I've never experienced temperature fluctuation with this heater, and I think it's because of how slow it heats up. Great product, will definitely buy again for my next tank.
