For those who don't realize, the picture on the front is NOT how many fish you should be putting in there. You should only put 4 or 5 of the larger tetra glofish in the tank, our Petsmart sales person asked how large of a tank we had and said that 5 was pushing it then said they really prefer to be in a school of 5 or more. I went ahead and got 5, apparently our fish thought 5 was too many as well as the one fish bullied another until it eventually died. 4 fish get along, 5 is one too many. The picture is just ridiculous.
The filter is very quiet, we had it on our kitchen counter for about 6 months and it was only noisy when the water level was low.
This is a nice beginning tank, not too big that it gets overwhelming but not so small that you can only have one fish.

I bought this with some trepidation based on some of the reviews here. However, got it home and am very much pleased. Seems many of the concerns expressed seem to be have been corrected.
The lid is a sturdy plastic with pre-cut holes for Filter, Wire and Feeding. Lights were easy to install and hold solidly in the slots which are pre-formed in the lid. (Note - instructions still referred to assembly of parts which were not included nor needed as all was part of the lid)
Filter and Pump seems more than adequate and provides good water flow through the tank. Negative is I cannot find that the pump is adjustable to decrease the flow. (One that came with the 3 gallon kit DOES adjust)
Lighting comes with both Blue and White LEDs with option to light just blue or both White and Blue. Blue makes the Glo part of Glofish Really pop. Adding the white makes tank bright and still keeps the fish glowing (Because blue is still on) Very nice balance. Lid ensures lights are positioned correctly to keep whole tank lit.
It DOES come with a black background insert now. Nice addition.
All in All - very happy with the purchase. Stocked with 4 Tetras and 4 Danios. All seem swimmingly happy.
DON'T put a Fresh water Puffer in with the glo fish. I liked the puffer and thought it would be a good addition. He ate one of the Danios (who was bigger than himself) before I made it home... :-(

I bought this tank along with the tank decor for my two boys although I thought I would enjoy it myself. The set up is just kind of okay. It mainly makes everything kind of blue. Even with the glo fish brand products in the tank. I would say it's not as vibrant colored as I was hoping for, but the kids enjoy it and that is what matters. I can't say how it runs as I just set it up. It is a quiet tank but I would not put more than three fish in the tank.

I have this, and it does look amazing. I love my tank, but buying this complete kit wound up costing me more. The filter it comes with is barely adequate. Unless you have only a couple fish, expect to clean your tank a minimum of 2-3 times a week. The whisper filter can not keep up with the bioload of a fully stocked tank. The filter cartridges also need to be replaced like every other week, which will kill your good beneficial bacteria levels, and they're expensive. It doesn't come with a heater, so you need to buy that seperatley also.
My suggestion, buy a plain 10 gallon tank for about $15, purchase the blue LED light which can attach to the inside rim of almost any tank, purchase a heater, and a decent filter (I have a fluval C-2 which I bought online for about $35). You will end up spending about the same when it's all said and done, but the quality of your tank will be much better.
