This stand is okay to start with if you have a big tank. It is laminate surface, so it will bubble and peel after awhile of being exposed to water. Another reviewer suggested spraying it down with a water-tight sealant which is a wise thing to do. I've had mine now for just at a year and it's only now starting to show real signs of distress. After doing weekly (sometimes bi-weekly) water changes for my 40 gallon goldfish tank, there's been bubbling and a corner is starting to peel. I plan to simply sand down the bubbles and paint it with a good spray paint just because I don't want to buy a new one any time soon.
The construction was simple. It took me and my husband about a half an hour to put it together, but like most pre-fab furniture somethings didn't quite line up, like the doors for example.
All in all it's not a bad purchase. Like I said, it took a year to start wearing down, but you do get what you pay for. Keep in mind the reason this piece is on the cheap side for such large aquariums is because the materials are on the cheaper side, meaning it's not solid wood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by hlf19 Amazing! looks great and held perfectly!
I purchased this for my extremely large saltwater tank, and it worked perfect for me. the cabinet was perfect to hide the ugly side of owning fish, and the extra shelves were great for picture and decoration. I recommend this to anyone. Putting the stand together was simple and very well instructed. Good for a first time large tank fish owner.

I purchased this stand along with a 50 gallon fish tank. I chose the stand because the color matched almost perfectly to my living room decor. Setting it was was relatively easy but, I did have an issue getting the doors to fully close properly. After having it a few years the edges have started looking pretty bad because it is a laminated product, it is not real wood. I am in the process of making the same stand myself for a third of the cost.

Great great stand, however as others have said this stand is prone to water damage, not a good combination for a stand that is supposed to hold a aquarium. This problem is very easy to fix tho, home depot and other places sell NeverWet from rustolium, this stuff not only protects the whole thing from water damage but makes water that landed on the furniture bead and literally roll off with no damage.
Once you have put NeverWet on the stand it really does deserve 5 stars for quality and Appearance, I am a technical instructor and I was not happy with the instructions, I never understand why instructions are always so poorly written.
