This isn't the greatest gravel vacuum, but it's okay. I have 2 of them in 2 sizes. I bought a medium for my 10 gallon and a large for my 55 gallon.
The medium-sized one is okay, but the tube connections loosen a bit with every use. I have trimmed the tubing more than once to get a tighter fit/better seal and that seems to help for a while, but it just wiggles itself loose again. I'm worried over time the tubes will end up being too short.
On the large size, the hoses are rather stiff and difficult to maneuver. The hoses are also a bit too short, and that causes a serious mess when the hose joins fall apart or the hose falls out of the drain bucket. I can't trim the tubing at the joins to tighten the connections because the hose is already a bit too short to properly reach the middle of my 55 gallon tank. Maybe I should have bought the XL instead? Though, that probably also would have been too stiff to maneuver efficiently.
Overall, I think the small or medium would be an okay choice for a smaller aquarium, but I definitely would not recommend these vacuums for larger aquariums.

I read a lot of good review on here about it, but no luck for me with this product.I used this like 3 times before it broke. the blue plastic pump some how busted when i was suctioning, right int the middle of cleaning my tank. so, now gotta buy another one. Just spend the extra money and get something else.

After using one of those gravel vacuums that you have to shake or suck on the tube ( because the shaking never works) to create the suction, I went into petsmart and bought this the other day. Three pumps and the suction started and made really easy work out of cleaning my gravel. Wish I had found this several years ago!

Rated 4 out of 5 by JeanJeans Great Product if properly put together
This really is a great product. However, when I purchased it and tried it for the first time I could not, for the life of me, get it to work. The pump would not start a successful siphon. I even resorted to sucking one end of the tube with absolutely no success. After I said to my husband, "I can seem to get it passed the squeeze pump," it clicked for him. The hoses were swapped and with the one way valve it wouldn't allow a successful siphon. Now, I'm almost positive my hoses were attached that way when I bought the product, but I could be wrong and the mistake could completely have been my own. I'm hoping if anyone has the same issue (I read a previous review that sounds like they may have) they can read this and try what I did. Once the swap was made it worked fantastically.
