I adopted a mill dog rescue 2 mos ago. She had lived her 5 yrs of life in a cage, with no name - just a number. Needless to say, she had never had any love, let alone potty training. The shelter had worked with her for 3 mos before I got her, and she was getting used to some routine, but still had a long way to go. Except for the heavy snow days we've had in Colorado, I'm taking her out first thing in the morning and as soon as I get home, but she is still having some accidents during the day. I bought the potty pads and put them at the back door, and she was gravitating toward them, but the messes would spill over on the floor. I decided to try the Potty Patch. She goes right to it and never misses! I put one of the potty pads in the tray under the "grass" to soak up the urine, which makes for easy clean up. I use an enzyme spray during the week on the "grass" to "eat" the urine and fecal matter and keep the smell down. Then I clean the entire thing on the weekends when I can take my dog out more often and she doesn't need to use the Potty Patch. There is FAR LESS odor than my cat's litter box, for sure, and I think my little dog is associating the Potty Patch with real grass and is much more readily and quickly eliminating outside. It has worked wonderfully for us!

My husband and I have 2 Mini Dachshunds at home that have to potty often. We thought that this would be an amazing item to get for them while we are work during the day, so they have somewhere to go. It worked really well the first couple days. Till one of our dogs decided to shred the grass. It wasn't totally torn up so we decided to continue using it. I won't spend my money on another one of these. You basically have to clean it everyday or it smells. It gets squished into the grass, so the only way to clean it is to spray it in the bathtub. Who wants to do that everyday though!! I would recommend potty pads and a holder over this product. so much easier to clean and easy to change. And no lingering smell even after cleaning.

While staying in an apartment temporarily I purchased this at the suggestion of an employee. My dogs wouldn't even stand on it. And I don't blame them. It's very thin synthetic grass over a prickly plastic tray. But since I opened it I can return or exchange it. Waste of money!

My puppy does use this pad. No piddles on the floor. UNLESS I don't get the pieces all picked up and put back together or trashed from where she's chewed it up! And not just the green grassy pad either, but the plastic pad underneath it that allows the liquid to flow through onto the tray. That's the only thing she hasn't chewed up is the tray! I'm already going to have to get a new plastic pad and a new grassy pad, and it's only been 2 months!
Oh, and I'm not talking about a big, huge rough and tumble type dog either. I'm talking about a 4 month old Pomeranian who doesn't even weigh 3.5 pounds yet!
