My son has a 40 pound, very energetic Husky. We use the lead to let her outside to do her business. This lead is not made to be left outdoors all the time. The clasp will rust and eventually, the lead itself will break. It's a good quality lead if you use it correctly (ie: not leaving it outdoors all the time, especially where it is exposed to the elements).

Rated 4 out of 5 by RescueHuskyMom4 It's good for what it is
We have a 45 pound husky but boy is she strong. Which is why we upgraded to this tie out. We got the 20ft one which is nice because when we travel and don't bring the stake can use it around a tree and she loves it just as much. It's been nice so far even in the cold weather in the Chicago suburbs. It's held up nicely even though she winds it around the stake. Let me tell u she gets this so wrapped up but it hasn't cracked or broken it yet like she did the last one frome somewhere else.

Rated 3 out of 5 by KeithK Good for one year
If you do not mind spending the amount, which isn't huge, this is not a horrible item to purchase once a year. However, the plastic will begin to break, easily, during the winter months, cable will fray, and will eventually give and you will find your dog sitting at your doorstep with the broken cable still clipped to collar.

i'm on my second purchase of this item. they seem to last exactly one year for me, always breaking right after winter ends. the plastic starts to crack and the metal underneath will rust, and just snap apart. during winter months, the metal clasp freezes shut and i have to blow on it to unthaw it. product works good if it is intact, just be sure to keep an eye on when it starts to wear out and replace it soon, or you might have your dog on the loose. like other reviews, my dog is WELL below the maximum for the weight and hardly pulls on it. i just ordered a Four Paws heavyweight tie out cable (on amazon) that says it will not rust so we will see how that works out.
