Rated 2 out of 5 by fizzgiggly Great concept, still has flaws
Since I am a gadget person and have a human activity monitor for myself, I was excited to get one for my dog - an extremely active 1 year old Wheaten Terrier.
While the concept is cool, the product needs some work. It is difficult to set up with your wifi and bluetooth; not the actual setting it up, but the actual having the product recognize the wifi/bluetooth. I had to remove and reinstall several times to get working properly. I feel it fair to mention that I work in IT for a living, so I am not a techie novice.
Once you do have it connected, it's supposed to sync every hour. It rarely, if ever, does that. On a few occasions I've gone to the app to check activity and it's told me it hasn't synced in 12 hours, to check the device. We have wifi and are never anywhere without our phones. Tech support via email has always been quick and courteous, but there's always an excuse (maybe your dog's crate is in a dead spot, etc.) for why the product isn't syncing like it's supposed to.
Additionally, after an hour romp on the beach the contacts rusted. The information it provides it the number of active minutes. Still haven't quite figured out how they determine that - when my dog has a 10 hour day at day camp with a 2 hour mid day break, he still only registers 170-220 minutes of activity, although the bar graph is up and down all day.
Nice idea. Wish it worked well!

I created an account specifically to review this, that's how strongly I felt about needing to warn other people about this.
There are no support/contact phone numbers for this company whatsoever. You can e-mail them, but I'm not sure how efficient or feasible troubleshooting via e-mail is. The product appears to have very unreliable bluetooth connectivity, the company is severely lacking in support, and worst of all, they're located in San Francisco.
Oh, also, this product must be attached to a collar, it is not a stand-alone product, it's just the little gray circular device you see in the advertisement(s), you will have to purchase a collar or use one you already have to attach this to.

Rated 4 out of 5 by GreySquirrel Very cool device. Interesting monitoring activity
I am enjoying my Whistle activity tracker very much. My pal Sadie and I are spending more time outside. We make our activity goal every day. On occasion, we will need to do a late night walk around the block to make our goal. With the Whistle activity tracker, I was able to get a baseline of Sadie’s normal activity and was able to ramp it up. I feel better knowing she is getting more exercise. The kids are getting into it as well wanting to take Sadie to the park more.
The app works great. I like how it updates automatically. In the app, it estimates how many days of battery life are left. I'm getting about 9 days between charges. I will frequently add a comment and picture to the activity in the app.
A downside I see is its size. Its a little bulky but Sadie doesn’t mind. Also, trending in the app is difficult to understand. In addition, what are you supposed to do with the trending information?
I work for PetSmart and received a free trail of this product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by saraua Interesting, but not very useful
I was excited to get this product and try it out on my pug. The size is fine on him and is easy to get on/off for charging. It was difficutlt to set up the device to my android phone and the app was not useful for a while. It did show his activity, but that was about it. There was just an update to the app, but the newness and novelty has worn off. I also have issues with getting the battery low notices, so will go a day or two with a dead battery and lose his goal streaks. I don't know if that's my phone or the app. (I work for PetSmart and recieved a free trial of this product.)
