Striped Raphael Catfish
I've had this fish for over 5 years now. I got him when he was about 2 inches long, now he's about 5 inches. I hear they usually grow quick and in my 55 gallon tank I would have thought he would be bigger, but he is perfect how he is now. He is notural and wont come out when the lights are on in the house. I walk into the room to turn on the light and he scurries back to his castle I got for him. I knew I would hardly see this fish since I did some research before purchasing. Every now and then he will gladly swim around and grace me with his presents. This fish is for more of a experience handler. Not really meant for a beginner. Its just him, a ghost catfish, and a goldfish in my 55 gallon tank for now. Looking to add just a couple more top dwellers soon.

waste of money
its a very timid fish, never comes out i cant see it ever even if i keep my lights off. i think it or my black ghost knife fish ate my tetras. in a tank you want to see you pets to make sure they are doing fine, enjoy their activities, this one never comes out i took it out once to make sure its doing ok otherwise it just hides inside the cave

These fish are fun to keep and they are also called Talking Catfish because they can make a croaking noise. Although shy they are more for the fish keepers that have experience.

Striped Raphaels Are Awesome!
i bought mine at about 1inch long and two months later they are 3inches. they grow extremely fast when fed properly and i think i have a couple. I have heard that they are semi-aggressive but they havn't tried to eat anything. They are even scared of my 3 black kuhli loaches. They hide together all day long when the light is off (mine aren't very nocturnal). I personally think they are amazing to watch swim around together. my only problem with them is that i rarely see them.
