I purchased this to use as a backpack in case my Maltese-terrier mix cannot complete the mountain hikes I will be taking on an upcoming vacation. We did a trial run on a 5-mile bike ride. My ten-pound pooch fit comfortably and calmly in the pack and the bottom was sturdy, which I read was an issue (lack of sturdiness) with similar products.
The product is great for my dog, but it is a bit uncomfortable for me. It triples as a carrier and rolling cart, which creates a few issues that may not exist if it were simply a backpack. The metal bar for the rolling cart adds weight to the bag and also lies right on the spine, which is a bit uncomfortable. Also, the backpack straps lie right on top of pressure points, which (for me) resulted an instant stress headache. I am hoping that I can figure out a way to remove the rolling cart bar without compromising the sturdiness of the bag. Once that is gone, I think this will be a great product.
