We have a cat that we rescued who has scratched and bitten everyone in the family and even guests, which is a huge dilemma because we know that a cat like this can not be rehomed and will live in a cage if in a shelter. Besides, 99% of the time (or more) he is a good average cat, lazes around, eats, and gets along with our other cat. However, he is what you'd call a nervous wreck, always seems on edge about something, and we believe this is what causes the nasty actions, which happen if we pet or touch him in the wrong way when he's in a "mood". The vet has determined he's healthy, so we know he's just defending his territory or reacting to some kind of fear. I bought this Sentry when it went on sale and it's made a huge difference. When I forgot about refilling it and was not even sure it was the Sentry that made the difference, he scratched my daughter's hand while he was sitting on the table where she was doing her homework. It's hard to own a cat like this, but this helps a lot. I now own two, one upstairs and one down. He sleeps right near it, I'm sure he likes it and somehow feels calmer. It doesn't smell or emit odor to us humans. My cat seriously needs this, I'll make sure to refill it! I just want to add that the changes were not drastic (he's still nervous and will scratch or bite if agitated), but they were enough for us to notice. He feels better with it, even noticed his facial expression seemed to relax within an hour of plugging it in.. if you are in the situation we are and have a cat you love with problems, give this a try.
