Great product allows you to be in control of feeding times, not your pet! Our tyrannical cat used to demand to be fed breakfast at about 4 AM. He'd jump on our bed and meow loudly until one of us would go to the kitchen to feed him. We now set this feeder aka "Robo-Feeder" for the 4 AM feeding.
Result, a full night's sleep for a suburban couple and a cat who can still enjoy his early morning breakfasts.

We purchased this so we could go away for the weekend or going out for the evening. It does work but the timing is off by a lot. Sometimes it's 15 minutes off and sometimes 1.5 hours off. I think it's the flimsy design. Eventually your cat will eat but I wouldn't rely on it.

We are in (dire) need of a feeder that we can set to feed our cat on a set 12hr time frame. This is the second type of feeder we tried. Although it didn't meet our needs, I don't think it is bad product. I returned it for the following 3 reasons:
1. When it flips open, it is almost silent. For some folks, that's seems ideal, but for us, he couldn't hear it open while he was busy nagging us to feed him (sometimes at 3am!!#. The pour of dry food is not loud enough to bother us #even our toddler#, but if he is not attracted to the sound of the pouring food #which he associates with eating since we manually pour it into the bowl now#, he does not go to it. Big down side for us and the main reason I reason I returned it!
2. I expected the timer to be similar to the one on a plug-in light timer #where you might set one dial for 5am and the other to 5pm#. You set the dial to open in X amount of hours. That was a PITB to me, especially as it was not something I was prepared for #as I was with the next point). I need something that will accurately feed him at a set time. This way he knows when to expect it.
3. With only 2 plates, it needs resetting everyday. I knew this from the time of purchase, so its certainly not a flaw of the product, but we are trying to dis-associate ourselves from the food for him. If we handle the food everyday, that dis-association does not occur. Again, not a product flaw, but something to think about.
Overall, its not a bad product. I love that the white trays are removable for thorough cleaning.
