Drinkwell Zen Pet Fountain
Almost purr-fect fountain
My kitty really does drink more water since we purchased the Drinkwell Zen water fountain around Christmas time last year.
A dog I pet-sit also likes drinking from the fountain. Luckily my kitty doesn't seem to mind sharing :).
As my title says, it's an almost purr-fect fountain. The only things I'd like to see the company tweak are:
1. The water basin, or at least the interior of the water basin, be made out of heavier or better quality stainless steel so it's a little easier to clean any calcium scale that's formed. It's easy to clean, but there are a couple places that have calcium scale that I can't seem to get clean with a baking soda and water mixture. I'm afraid to use a salt and water mixture or Soft Scrub in case either of those should scratch the finish.
2. The pump was behind the filter or inside a screening of some sort so that any pet hair, lint, etc. could be more easily removed without taking the whole pump and wiring out to be cleaned before the fountain needs to be dismantled and cleaned. Pre-screening/filtering would also make routine cleaning of the pump easier and faster too.
3. Make the water lines for Maximum Fill and Minimum Fill in a contrasting color or some other way to make it easy/easier to see the water level without feeling for the lines or getting down close to see the lines.
Otherwise, I think the fountain is easy to dismantle, clean, and put back together.
My cat and occasional canine visitor like drinking from the fountain, so get enough hydration to keep them healthy and me happy.
To the poster having difficulty with the water stream/flow and splashing, play with the adjustment of the top piece/plate that looks like it has a triangle on it. I found if it's pushed down too low or pulled up to high the water flow isn't even across the plate. I also had splashing once but found if I have the triangle plate in a certain place and the water level filled correctly, the splashing stopped. Since finding this, I haven't had any splashing since. I hope this helps some.
I'm on here today posting a review because I'm looking to see if I can purchase a replacement pump since we lost electrical power due to a tree in the neighborhood taking out the power supply. Kitty and I are having a difficult time contemplating a water fountain-less time before finding a pump. We need our Zen!

Noisy, splashes water all over the floor
I previously had a plastic fountain and bought this as it looks easy to clean.
It worked great at first, but then after a couple of weeks the water stream split, so the stream no longer consistently hits the ramp, making the water sound much louder, and leading to splashing all over the floor. I would not recommend this product.

best water fountain
this is the 3rd style of drinkwell fountain, and by far the best. AFter 6 weeks still no merky slim around the bowl. Easy to clean, and change water as needed but with the filter lasting longer the water appeared to be fresher and cooler. I liked that the water went straight thru to the filter and hair didn' t clog the first screen. The cats seem to like this one more also.

cats love it, very easy to use
With the water circulating it keeps the water fresh and it helped the cats drink more water which was healthier for them. They love to drink from it. If your cat likes to drink from faucets and/ or the sink then they should love this.
