Instructions: Oasis Vita-Drops can be added to the food and/or the drinking water, whichever is more appropriate and accepted by the bird. The preferred method of using Oasis Vita-Drops is to add the concentrated liquid supplement to the bird's daily drinking water (whenever possible, use a sanitary water bottle instead of an open water dish, which can be easily contaminated with debris). However, birds fed high-moisture foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables may consume a minimal amount of their drinking water, in which case the vitamins may be applied directly to their food.
For Drinking Water = One Drop Per Ounce of Water:
When mixing larger batches for aviaries, add 1 ml (1 cc) to each 32 oz. or 4 ml (4 cc) per gallon of water and shake or stir to mix. To insure freshness, change the water at least every one to three days.
Randomly scatter two or three drops of Vita-Drops directly onto the surface of the food every one to three days. If adding to seed, stir the one or two drops into about one ounce of seed and mix, then layer the fortified seed on top of the bird's feed dish. Check to be sure that thevitaminized seed has been consumed within 24 hours. If the bird refuses to eat the fortified seed, feed the usual plain seed diet for three days and try again. Birds are creatures of habit, and may not accept the new seed mixture immediately. It is very important that the bird not go without food by simply refusing to eat the fortified seed.
For Young, Aged, or Ailing Birds:
Increase the dose to one and a half to two times the regular dose and change water daily. If the bird is weak or unwilling to drink, put one to two drops directly into the beak using the eyedropper, and follow with one to three ml of water. Always seek the advice of a qualified avian veterinarian if you think your bird is ill. Vita-Drops are safe to use when hand-feeding.
Shake well before using.
