It's important to remember that grit should NOT be fed to parakeets or other parrots.
"The Dangers Associated with Grit in a Parrot's Diet:
Grit is an important aid in helping certain birds, such as finches, canaries and other passerines, digest food - but this does NOT apply to parrots. Parrots have a smaller exit opening from the stomach into the intestines, so grit remains trapped in the stomach causing internal blockage. The birds may show neurological symptoms, weight loss, and eventually death."
Whether or not finches and canaries need grit is debated but doesn't have a clear answer. For parakeets, cockatiels, and parrots, grit is an absolute no. It's actually harmful. Buy this for your finches, not your parrots.

by birdkeeper2010 My birds like to crunch on this product
I put this in a dish for my birds and I see them crunching on it so it must be good to them. I would recommend introducing this to your bird with another source of calcium available until the find it and figure out what it is.

I ordered 6 day old chicks and the regular chicken grit was too large for them to swallow so I bought some of this. They liked it and grew into some wonderful backyard layers.
