I bought this tank and currently have three mollies in it. It is a small tank so I wouldn't suggest more fish than that, but they are perfectly healthy and happy.
The filter works fine. It not super strong, which is okay for the small tank, and does make noise. It sounds like a small water fall or fountain. I find it soothing personally. Originally I had a fairly large plant positioned where the water pours in from the filter that muted the sound pretty well.
The lid and LEDs are great. The light is nice and bright which encourages my fish to get active and swim around a lot. I don't really trust the thermometer so I bought a second one just to be safe.
If you're looking for a good starter I would get this tank. It's great for the cost!

Rated 1 out of 5 by NellL Filter way too noisy: starter kit not worth it.
I have extensive experience with aquariums but haven't had the pleasure in a few years. I brought this home to get my toes wet again, so to speak.
Sadly, I'll be draining it and taking it back. The actual tank is fine. The hood is flimsy but functional.
The filter, however, is beyond loud. It's primed and running. I've done everything I can to minimize the noise but it's disruptive in my home. I'll be taking down the entire tank and returning the entire kit. I'd wind up replacing nearly every component and I may as well just start the tank correctly from the beginning.
Really disappointed in the quality of this product.

by Nann Filter trouble shoot
I just purchased and set up this tank today. Selected due to simple lines which will not distort the fish. I plan to put in a beta fish. As many reviews indicated the filter is to strong, but I made a baffle from a water bottle as seen on UTube, made a big difference. Just an FYI for those who may be new to this like me. The directions on the filter are terrible. It didn't work at first, I went to my trusty UTube and found out I needed to add water to the filter before plugging in. I'm sure some of you are saying, what a bonehead, but for someone who's never had an aquarium, And the none existent directions, well what can I say, I felt like one. Hope this helps another newbies like me.

This is a really nice set up for a betta fish!
The Tank is great! The hood is a bit cheap but still serves its purpose. Filter is strong for a betta fish and doesnt have adjustable settings but I was able to fix this with a homemade baffle.
Lightning is pretty good.
I got a real deal on this (50% off) but I am not sure I would paid the normal amount it usually is.
